Construction of an old-growth wood post & beam chalet.
Foundations + 3 storeys. Interior and exterior joinery.
This entire renovation project was carried out with astute attention to detail both regarding the choice of materials and the quality of the finish. Interior volumes are impressive. Old-growth wood is very much present thanks to a majestic truss – stamped 1777 – which blends in perfectly with the owners’ choice to use natural pale oak and stoneware for the entrance and mineral shades of colour for the bathrooms.
The resolutely modern mat black kitchen contrasts with the impressive volume of the frame and ceiling height. Large openings were added on both sides of the room which give the feeling of almost living outdoors. The entire interior is basking in natural light resulting in a powerful impression of living indoors/outdoors and a feeling of serenity in this large living space measuring over 100 m2. Finally, the designer furniture puts the finishing modern touch to the renovation. This home is far more than a quick getaway, as the owners have just moved in on a permanent basis to “work from home”.
